Really Relaxing Reflexology
in Elmvale, Ontario

Discover how this gentle, hands-on holistic treatment can help support your health and wellbeing

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a gentle non-invasive complementary therapy that promotes deep relaxation and wellbeing. It is based on the principle that there are points on the feet, hands and face that correspond to organs, glands and systems of the body.

By applying pressure to these points known as 'reflexes', this therapy encourages the body to restore itself to a state of balance needed for the body to survive and function correctly. AND has the added benefits of emotional wellness.

The reflexologist uses thumb and finger techniques of varying pressure and the treatment is performed fully clothed with the exception of removing socks and shoes.

Benefits of Reflexology

RelaxSoulBody Reflexlology

A major effect of reflexology is that it is deeply relaxing. When your body truly relaxes, it allows tension to be released and pain to be lessened.

Stress is a fact of life and also part of our normal functioning. However, when not under control, stress is often the root of many physical and emotional problems. By allowing the body to destress through reflexology, there can be huge benefits:

  • Improves digestion - irritable bowel, constipation

  • Balances hormonal system - PMS, reproductive issues, sleeping problems, anxiety & depression

  • Unblocks congestion & energy pathways - headaches & migraines, cold & sinus, brain fog, low energy

  • Improves circulation, blood flow - high blood pressure, sluggishness, may include diabetes

  • Stimulates the immune & lymphatic (detox) system to aid in self healing - sickness, injury, may include auto-immune disease, cancer

  • Helps relieve pain & nerve impulses - back pain, neck stiffness, muscle tension, sciatica, may include chronic pain

  • Flushes the body & eliminates waste - may include bladder infections, fluid retention, lymphedema

  • Relaxing - takes body out of 'fight or flight" mode and takes you to a place of rest and healing

Hot Stone Reflexology

So, what’s the big deal about hot stone reflexology?

While hot stone massage is well known and in high

demand, people tend to know less about hot stone

reflexology. However once they do hear about it, I’ve

noticed that there’s a high level of interest in the therapy.

The use of hot stones in healing treatments is something that has been around for thousands of years. Their use is based on the principle that heat relaxes your body at its deepest level. So the heat promotes relaxation and allows the therapist to work at a deeper level to support the healing and balancing of your body’s systems.

The health benefits of hot stones include:

  • better circulation

  • increased elimination of waste products and toxins from your body

  • reduced muscle tension and a release of tension in connective tissue

  • strengthens your immune system

  • de-stresses and promotes relaxation

To be fair, the health benefits are similar to the effects of a standard reflexology session. The difference between the two is that we tend to see a faster response when we use the stones to heat your body.

It’s not for everybody. There are some conditions where heat is not recommended, including when there is inflammation such as with rheumatoid arthritis, or skin conditions that can be aggravated by moisture or heat, such as dermatitis.

As someone who has witnessed the healing power of standard reflexology, I’m now also a true advocate of hot stone reflexology.

For this treatment, we work on your feet and legs up to your knees. It’s soothing and relaxing. As some people can handle more heat than others, I will always check that the stones are at the right temperature for you. All you need to do is relax and let your body rebalance and heal.

Hot stone reflexology feels like a luxury spa treatment, while also promoting healing in your body. If you want to give it a try, please contact me for more details!

Pauline G. - Elmvale

"Having never experienced a reflexology treatment before, I had several sessions with Tanya and was surprised how enjoyable and relaxing they are. I was finding it hard to stay awake as the bed and blankets made the session comfortable and the gentle manipulation of the feet and legs made by Tanya were all part of the relaxing experience."
